Review

I should really turn on my notifications or something in Amazon. I had a review on “You Can Always Go Home” and I didn’t even know it. EEEk!!!!

So, I’m not sure if this is okay or not, but I’m going to post it anyway.

“This is the first time that I've read anything by this author and I'm glad I took a chance. She did an excellent job developing the plot and the characters - so much so that I thoroughly disliked Alexina. To say she was annoying and too wishy-washy is putting it mildly. However, kudos to the author for getting me so engaged and invested in the characters. The story had a nice pace and refreshingly was without typos - excellent editing. I would highly recommend this read and I will definitely add Ms. Rogers to my watch list.”

I have to say, I’m flattered. And very appreciative that this woman to the time to write this.

Whoot whoot!

I have published another story on Amazon. This time it’s a short story, titled “A Secret’s Hunter”

935fef6c-7f0c-4a0f-af11-5ae2d1e4a107

Don’t you love the Cover? Click it to go to the page in amazon

A nice little blurb to wet your appetite:

Alan is immortal, born in a time of mistrust and hatred. Even now, hundreds of years later, there are those that despise him and hunt him as a freak of nature, an experiment.
Now, as a behind the scenes CEO of a medical research company, he is on the brink of changing history, when in walks the woman of his dreams, Josceline. Everything he could want in a woman and he’s finally ready to pursue her. Only trouble is, someone is watching him, threatening to tear down his carefully built façade.
Can he protect her and keep his secrets safe?

Very excited at this piece of news. It just got old, waiting for someone to want to publish my story’s, to get the green light from some publishing company with no face. Doing it on my own feels better and I’m more in control. Though I don’t have the PR backing, it’s okay. I can do this

I also have an Author Page live on www.Amazon.com if you want to check me out:

https://www.amazon.com/author/desireerogers

It’s not done yet, (the page) but I’m working it slowly and surely.

This is going to be a fun ride.

New release

I bit the bullet a few days ago and self-published on Amazon. It was the most exhilarating, scary, nauseating, bone chilling thing I’ve done

I wanna do it again!

If you look to the right ---------> you’ll see the book cover for ‘You Can Always Go Home’ and a link that will take you to the page to purchase it on kindle.  I just have my fingers crossed that it goes well. I have so many other books that I want to put out there, I’m just chomping at the bits.

Let the changes begin…

I’m back…

So I took a long break. Way long, longer than I ever thought. went through a lot things on my break. a divorce, a move home and a move back, but things seem to coming back. the need to write, the urge to be creative is bubbling up and you know what that means…

Writing and other cool stuff.

I’m very excited to try new things, finish my stories and put them out there for others to hopefully enjoy. With that said, enough babbling and on to the good stuff.

Long Time

I know, I haven't been here in a while. A lot has been going on and it’s taken me till now to deal with it enough that I can put it in a blog, let it out so others can relate to what has been going on.

Let’s start with the heavy and go from there.

I’m in the middle of a divorce. Or maybe it’s the end. I can’t really tell anymore. All I know is that my 10 year relationship has imploded and I’m still picking up the pieces. A lot of people will tell me that they are sorry to hear that, that their heart goes out to them, but I’m not in the mood. I just want people to nod and look away. I’m not able to handle the pity or the sorrow or even the despair that some people express at the ending of my marriage. I may never be able to and that’s how I handle things. Just press on until the road runs out. Productive yes…emotionally healthy…not so much.

With that out there, I’m going to take down this blog and go in a new direction, or more like chose a fork in the road and follow it. We are still going to talk about writing, but also crafts, bariatric surgery and recipes. I’m also going to get personal, talk about dreams, wants needs. I’ll probably post some stuff that I’m writing and even some deep thoughts that may make you blush a bit. Sorry about that, but it’s time I condensed my thoughts and words to one place. I have about three other blogs and it’s too hard, too much to keep up with keeping it all separate.

One place…one me. That’s the new motto.

So if you wanna head on over to the new home base, please do. If not, it’s been a good time with you.

New day

It seems that I am back in the saddle again with writing. I took a bit of time for me, to see where things were going and how I felt about them. Truth be told, as much as I lament when I’m writing about how hard it is and how difficult I find it to write, I NEED to write. It’s in me and I can not get away from it. Since picking the pen back up a few days ago, I’ve gotten several chapters down and I’m back on my roll.

I think though, that I’m going to try and self-publish. I realize that my writing style is bit…off the norm and that’s okay. I wouldn’t change it even if I could. So, once I get a of $$ saved, I’m going to get some copyediting done and plunge right in. Should be fun and exciting. I just need some plans on how to market.

Any suggestions?

Priorities or…

figuring out what comes first.

There are going to be times in your career when sacrifices will have to be made. Things that were important to you will have to take a back seat to this beast we call writing. It’s natural and expected, at least for the die hard writers. The trick, that none of us has mastered, is to know when to put writing first and when to put it on the backburner.

Around Christmas time, I had to take a break from writing. Actually, I’d taken it earlier, but it was official around that time. I just couldn’t writ anymore. It wasn’t fun, I wasn’t getting anything done and I’d started to hate myself for feeling that way. I had activities that I wanted to do, other crafts I wanted to get involved in, but I felt that I was cheating on my writing by doing them. The break helped me put things in perspective and find my center, or at least as close as I can come to it.

There is nothing wrong with saying that you need some you time. That you want to take a vacation and see the ocean. Don’t feel guilty because you don’t want to write anymore, that you don’t feel that spark. You may get it back, you may not, but forcing yourself to work at it until your eyes cross is not the way to make it work.

that is when setting priorities is important. You have to figure out what is important to you, what will make you happy and sane. Writing may be it, but so should family and friends and other activities. Don’t push them to the side because you think writing is all about writing and nothing else. You have to get inspiration from somewhere, right? How will you see it if you’re always at the computer, typing away.
